Softball Recap: Estancia Eagles vs. Magnolia Sentinels
Estancia had lost four straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-20 to make it five. They came up short against the Magnolia Sentinels, falling 23-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Sentinels this season, with their most recent loss being a 22-6 defeat on April 3rd.
As for Magnolia, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The result was nothing new for the Sentinels, who have now won five matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.
For Magnolia's part, Sofia Miranda made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Miranda was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Magnolia got a massive performance out of Angela Mantujano, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Merim Gaid was another key player, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI.
