Basketball Recap: Woodlan Snags 14th Win in Last 15 Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Woodlan walked away with it. They snuck past the Whitko Wildcats with a 60-55 win on Tuesday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Wildcats are ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodlan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trey Yoder, who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine boards. The contest was Yoder's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Drew Fleek, who shot 58% from the field to rack up 17 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Whitko still got an impressive performance from Riley Harman, who went 6-for-13 en route to 18 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Harman is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last six games he's played. Easton Grable was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Woodlan is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points over those games. Whitko has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.

Woodlan will take on Adams Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Adams Central sitting on eight straight victories and Woodlan on five. Whitko does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
