Basketball Recap: Wes-Del Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Wes-Del Warriors didn't have quite enough to beat the Union County Patriots and fell 53-51.

When it comes to explaining why Wes-Del lost, don't look at Josiah Love. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points and seven rebounds. Love's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Mealy, who had eight points.

Nick Watterson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union County, going 11 of 20 on his way to 33 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Watterson is now averaging an impressive 16.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was Fenton Coyle, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Wes-Del's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Union County, the win also got them back to even at 4-4.

Wes-Del didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-46 defeat against Tri on the 4th. As for Union County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 44-38 victory against Rushville on the 4th.
