Baseball Recap: Tyngsborough Takes a Loss

Tyngsborough had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-8-1 to make it eight. They fell just short of the Clinton Gaels by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gaels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on April 2nd.

Ryan Manning and Samson Xayachack did some serious damage despite the final result: Manning went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Xayachack went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Aidan Richardson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Clinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Eight seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On Clinton's side, they let Caleb Coyne and Brian Silvester run wild. Coyne went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Silvester went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. With that strong performance, Coyne is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Josh Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tyngsborough will square off against Greater Lowell Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clinton, they will challenge Littleton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
