Nature Coast Tech and Springstead are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but likely not for long. The Sharks will venture away from home to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Nature Coast Tech had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Wesley Chapel on Thursday. The Sharks blew past the Wildcats 10-3.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Springstead duked it out with Fivay on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Falcons a 16-0 shutout. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Madison Mayon and Alivia Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Mayon pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). At bat, Mayon went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Miller went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rachel Rivera, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Lili Klink, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.
Springstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
Nature Coast Tech's record is now 2-0. As for Springstead, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.
Nature Coast Tech couldn't quite finish off Springstead when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
