Soccer Game Preview: Denison vs. Melissa

The Denison Yellow Jackets will challenge the Melissa Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Denison's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Denison took a three-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Anna, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellow Jackets came out on top in a nail-biter against the Coyotes on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2.

Meanwhile, Melissa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Walnut Grove, falling 6-1. While losing is never fun, Melissa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 608th, while Walnut Grove are ranked first).

Denison's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3-2 and their overall record up to 6-6-3. As for Melissa, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
