Softball Recap: East Wake Has No Trouble Against Southern Wayne

East Wake's rock-solid pitcher showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 19-0 margin over the Southern Wayne Saints. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Scarlett Avila-Cristobal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Katelyn Smith was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Jaimee Fowler was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

East Wake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

East Wake's record now sits at 4-2. As for Southern Wayne, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, East Wake is taking a road trip to take on C.B. Aycock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southern Wayne, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Beddingfield at 5:00 p.m.
