Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Dougherty's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

It's playoff time, and Dougherty had no trouble coming through when it counted. They strolled past the LaFayette Ramblers with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 58-39.

It was another big night for Jatiana Chambers, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 11 assists. She also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Dougherty is 12-4 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Amiyah Jackson, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Chambers wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Dougherty was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

Dougherty has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games. LaFayette has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

Dougherty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-40 loss against Cherokee Bluff on the 21st. LaFayette does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
