Basketball Game Preview: Guilford Vikings vs. Freeport Pretzels

Guilford is on a 15-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Freeport is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Guilford Vikings will get right back to it and host the Freeport Pretzels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Guilford will head into Monday's game on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking three-point defeat in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Beloit Memorial on Monday. Guilford breezed by Beloit Memorial to the tune of 65-33. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Freeport beat Eastland 62-50 on Saturday. Given the Pretzels' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while the Cougars are ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Freeport has also been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.
