Irvington had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past the Antioch Panthers 7-6. The win was just what Irvington needed coming off of a 8-1 loss in their prior contest.
Irvington got a great performance from Bijan Bozorg-Chami as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (he also only allowed one walk). Benjamin Walkup came in to relieve Bozorg-Chami and was airtight, giving up no runs, hits or walks in he one inning pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayden Jaksa, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with a home run and a stolen base. Ryan Johnson was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
On Antioch's side, Kenyon Sanders made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with a home run, two additional RBI, and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Dawson, who scored two runs and stole two bases.
Even though they lost, Antioch didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvington only threw three.
Irvington made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-6. As for Antioch, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
