Baseball Recap: St. Dominic Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

St. Dominic won the last time they faced Duchesne and things went their way on Monday too. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Pioneers. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

St. Dominic got a great performance from Alex Alsop as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Alsop has posted since back in April.

On the hitting side, Cooper Montgomery was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Daniel Henke, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.

St. Dominic hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive games.

St. Dominic's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Duchesne, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 22-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Dominic will challenge Vianney at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Duchesne, they will host Clayton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
