Softball Recap: Dexter Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Dexter got themselves on the board against Sandia Prep on Wednesday, but Sandia Prep never followed suit. They blew past the Sundevils 15-0. Considering the Demons have won 12 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaylonie Nevarez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Nevarez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Dexter got a massive performance out of Hannah Sanders, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs Sanders has posted since April 3rd. Another player making a difference was Melody Duran, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Dexter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandia Prep only posted an OBP of .364.

Dexter pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Sandia Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dexter beat Sandia Prep by a score of 15-0 later that day.
