Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Horn Lake). They put the hurt on the Lewisburg Patriots with a sharp 40-17 victory on Thursday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Patriots are ranked 152nd).

Horn Lake had a senior duo take command as Jason Edwards Jr threw for 224 yards and a pair of TDs and Isiah Mims rushed for 144 yards and one score while picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Those 144 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Mims. A healthy portion of Edwards Jr's aerial production (93 yards to be exact) went to Jakevious Brooks, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Horn Lake was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 298 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.

The win made it two in a row for Horn Lake and bumps their season record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.5 points over those games. As for Lewisburg, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Horn Lake has already played their next game, a 35-28 win against Madison Central on the 14th. Lewisburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
