Softball Game Preview: Calera Eagles vs. Benjamin Russell Wildcats

The Calera Eagles will take on the Benjamin Russell Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calera has now lost 11 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 6th.

On Monday, Calera didn't have quite enough to beat Pelham and fell 10-9.

Armiya Shamburger was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Lexi Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Benjamin Russell challenged Dadeville on Wednesday. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Tigers 4-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Calera's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Benjamin Russell, their victory bumped their record up to 5-15.

Calera came out on top in a nail-biter against Benjamin Russell in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
