Softball Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Bellevue Wolverines

The Liberty Patriots will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bellevue Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Liberty had to settle for a 13-12 loss against Bonney Lake. Liberty has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Abby Gallas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kaila Siu, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Liberty didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with eight strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bonney Lake only tossed four.

Meanwhile, Bellevue was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell victim to a tough 19-1 loss at the hands of Juanita.

Alexis DeBoer made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with a home run.

Liberty now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Liberty has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Bellevue struggles in that department as they've averaged .472. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
