Ryan Felix leads a balanced attack to beat Rio Rico

There's no place like home for the Douglas Bulldogs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Rio Rico 55-37 on Monday. For Douglas, this counts as revenge for the 65-59 defeat Rio Rico walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Douglas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Felix, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Luis Trahin-Quijada, who scored seven points along with three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Rio Rico lost, one person who can't be blamed is Angel Valenzuela. Despite the final result, he scored nine points along with four steals. Valenzuela has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeshua Murrieta, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 9-13. As for Rio Rico, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Douglas will be playing at home against Catalina at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Douglas is facing Catalina at the right time seeing as Catalina is stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Rio Rico, they will be playing at home against Sahuarita at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Rio Rico and 11 for Sahuarita.
