Volleyball Recap: Escalante Takes a Loss

If Escalante was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Penasco on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lobos lost 3-0 to the Questa Wildcats on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lobos in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-18.

Questa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Janae Dominguez, who had seven digs and seven aces. Those seven aces gave Dominguez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyne Ortega, who had 14 digs and three aces.

Escalante's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Questa, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Escalante is set to square off against their familiar foe Mesa Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Questa will take on rival Mora at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
