Baseball Recap: Delta Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fairview, Delta was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Toledo Christian Eagles.

Lane Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Emric Friess also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Delta kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Toledo Christian only managed four.

The victory got Delta back to even at 10-10. As for Toledo Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Delta will square off against Bowsher at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Toledo Christian, they will challenge Rogers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.5 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
