Adding to the longest winning streak in III Section V this week, Canyon del Oro beat Marana 41-13. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Maricopa took down Flowing Wells 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Jordan Closs-Lopez was a passing and rushing force as Canyon del Oro beat the Tigers. He completed 4 passes for 104 yards and also ran for 62 yards. Closs-Lopez's key target this week was JJ Metz, who caught 4 passes for 104 yards.

Metz was the best receiver in the league this week as Dustin Peace's team beat Marana. Metz racked up 4 receptions for 104 yards.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Dorados' Closs-Lopez and Metz have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-11 quarterback Closs-Lopez has thrown for 1,176 yards this season, while Metz has 17 catches for 532 yards. The Caballeros' Dionte Flores leads the league in rushing yards with 1,143.

A big matchup in III Section V this week will be when Andy Litten's team takes on Catalina Foothills. The Tigers are in fourth place, while the Falcons are in second place.

Catalina Foothills made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,734 from 4,047. The advance stemmed from a 49-7 victory over Casa Grande last week.
