Softball Game Preview: Chicago Christian Knights vs. Peotone Blue Devils

The Chicago Christian Knights will take on the Peotone Blue Devils at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chicago Christian has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 18.

Chicago Christian is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Timothy Christian on Wednesday. They lost 14-2 to the Trojans.

Chicago Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Walters, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Peotone sidestepped Grant Park for a 3-1 win. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Sophie Klawitter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

Peotone's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Chicago Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Peotone's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chicago Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. It's a different story for Peotone, though, as they've only averaged .232. Will they be able to contain Chicago Christian's hitters?

Chicago Christian couldn't quite get it done against Peotone in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 6-2. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
