Basketball Recap: Mount Tabor Falls Despite Big Games from Shaymiah Bailey and Ella-Ashleigh Fulp

Mount Tabor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 54-43 to the West Forsyth Titans. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Mount Tabor's loss came despite strong showings from Ella-Ashleigh Fulp and Shaymiah Bailey. Fulp went 5 of 12 en route to 16 points, while Bailey almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine boards. That's the most points Fulp has posted since back in February of 2024. Millie Scurry was another key player, putting up nine points.

West Forsyth's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Staples, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 19 points and four steals. The contest was Staples' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Isabel Gil, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points.

Mount Tabor's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for West Forsyth, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-6 record.

Mount Tabor is taking a road trip to challenge Forsyth Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mount Tabor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season. As for West Forsyth, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-39 defeat against Randleman on the 18th.
