Baseball Recap: Santa Rosa Academy Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Santa Rosa Academy lost to Cornerstone Christian last Thursday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Santa Rosa Academy came out on top against Cornerstone Christian by a score of 8-3. The game was the first time the Rangers have beaten the Crusaders on their field since May 18, 2021.

Dominic Zagone and Luke Hamilton did most of the damage at the plate: Zagone scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5, while Hamilton scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Santa Rosa Academy is 2-1 when Zagone posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-6 otherwise. Logan Ledesma also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Santa Rosa Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Santa Rosa Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. Cornerstone Christian's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Santa Rosa Academy will head out to square off against Desert Christian Academy at 3:15 p.m. on April 4. As for Cornerstone Christian, they will welcome The Grove School at 2:45 p.m. on Friday.
