The Guerin Catholic Golden Eagles will take on the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Guerin Catholic is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Guerin Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Lebanon. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Tate Troxell made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Guerin Catholic: the team is 6-2 when he allows at most three hits, but 9-10 otherwise. Troxell was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Finn Holden looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Guerin Catholic is 7-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 8-10 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Grant Beard was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since May 7th. Ben Canada was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Guerin Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory posted their closest win since May 10th on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Danville 5-3. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Charlie Cotter and Josh Bingman dominated on the mound. Cotter pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits, while Bingman struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Bingman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Suscha, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Marcus, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Guerin Catholic, their record is now 15-12.
Guerin Catholic skirted past Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory 11-9 when the teams last played back in April. Do the Golden Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Braves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
