Softball Recap: Caldwell County Takes a Loss

Caldwell County fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Crittenden County on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-4. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Rockets: they've now lost three in a row.

Alexis Wood spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brylee Butts was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Daelen Kizzee, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Caldwell County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Crittenden County, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Caldwell County will face off against Graves County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crittenden County, they will challenge Livingston Central at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
