Soccer Game Preview: Donahue Catholic vs. Canterbury

The Donahue Catholic Shamrocks will square off against the Canterbury Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Donahue Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Southwest Florida Christian a 3-0 shutout.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Canterbury made sure to put some goals up on the board against Evangelical Christian on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Sentinels as they made off with an 8-0 win. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Sentinels are ranked 561st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Donahue Catholic pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those seven contests. As for Canterbury, their win bumped their record up to 12-3-2.

Donahue Catholic suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Canterbury in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Donahue Catholic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
