Basketball Recap: Carolina International Comes Up Short

Carolina International extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 2-7. They took a 67-51 bruising from the Mountain Island Charter Raptors. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raptors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

As for Mountain Island Charter, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The final result isn't all that surprising considering their considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Carolina International is ranked 470th).

Kyle Bridgewater continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Mountain Island Charter's points. Another player making a difference was Nasir Jordan, who posted 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carolina International will take on Queen's Grant in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Comets' defense better be ready for this one: the Stallions have averaged an impressive 65.2 points per game this season. Mountain Island Charter and Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raptors will need to watch out since the Gryphons have now posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
