Volleyball Recap: Winfield's Run of Three Straight Wins Now Over

After a string of three wins, Winfield's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Flying Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Winfield had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 17-25, 25-21, 25-20.

Brooklyn Cole paced Winfield's offense, picking up 21 kills. Cole were helped by Macee Shock and Alexis Callahan, who contributed 22 assists each.

Woodrow Wilson was led to victory by Kyndra Bailey and Londen Baker. Bailey had eight digs and three aces, while Baker had 27 digs and two assists. Those 27 digs gave Baker a new career-high. Makayla Adkins also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Winfield's loss dropped their record down to 28-11-2. As for Woodrow Wilson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 23-13-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Winfield will take on George Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodrow Wilson, they will face off against St. Albans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
