Softball Game Preview: New Castle Trojans vs. Anderson Indians

The New Castle Trojans will face off against the Anderson Indians at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. New Castle is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for New Castle's offense. They fell just short of Lawrence Central by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday.

Kattie Mathews was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases.

Meanwhile, Anderson got the win against Heritage Christian on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-1. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won three matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Lilly Travis, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaycen Swink, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Anderson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

New Castle's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Anderson, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6.

New Castle took their win against Anderson when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
