Baseball Recap: Garfield Comes Up Short

Garfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Leonia Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Boilermakers of the 7-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Noah Cruz made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Benicio Garcia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Leonia, their victory bumped their record up to 4-13.

While Garfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
