Sultana came tearing into Thursday's match with 14 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hesperia Scorpions by a score of 4-1. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 9-2 win on Tuesday.

Brody Sappington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alex Gamez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Eric Ruiz was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Sultana pushed their record up to 19-2-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hesperia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Sultana will head out on the road to challenge Apple Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
