Baseball Recap: Ridgeline Drops Highest Score of Season Against Ogden

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgeline). They put the hurt on the Ogden Tigers with a sharp 18-1 win on Saturday. Considering the Riverhawks have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ripken Jensen and Maddux Jensen did most of the damage at the plate: Ripken scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Maddux scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Maddux a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Smith, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Ridgeline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ogden only posted an OBP of .240.

Ridgeline's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Ogden, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeline will square off against Green Canyon at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ogden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Summit at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
