Softball Recap: Johnson Warriors vs. Natomas Nighthawks
Johnson can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Natomas Nighthawks as the Johnson Warriors made off with a 12-2 victory. The win was just what Johnson needed coming off of a 12-0 defeat in their prior match.
Kayla Madison and Anissa Zavala made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Madison struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Zavala pitched an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits (she also didn't allow any walks). At bat, Madison got on base in all three of her plate appearances with a stolen base, while Zavala scored three runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Raven Xiong was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Munoz, who went 1-for-1 with a home run.
On Natomas' side, they saw one different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was My'Auni Brown, who went 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Johnson's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Natomas, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Johnson will head out on the road to square off against Foothill at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Johnson is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 12.4 runs per game this season. As for Natomas, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Valley at 4:00 p.m.
