Soccer Game Preview: Bowie vs. Veterans Memorial

The Bowie Bulldogs will face off against the Veterans Memorial Chargers on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Bowie is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Madison get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Bowie.

Meanwhile, Veterans Memorial won against La Joya on Thursday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. Veterans Memorial sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Del Rio. The win was all the more spectacular given Veterans Memorial's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Del Rio are ranked 74th).

Bowie pushed their record up to 15-7-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. As for Veterans Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 15-9-1.
