Baseball Game Preview: Sedgwick County Cougars vs. Yuma Outlaws

The Sedgwick County Cougars will take on the Yuma Outlaws at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Sedgwick County has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sedgwick County is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 13-4 to Maxwell.

Meanwhile, Yuma posted their closest win since April 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wray, sneaking past 7-6. The Outlaws haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Silas Baucke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jesus Rodriguez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lennox Huwa, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Yuma now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Sedgwick County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Sedgwick County might still be hurting after the 20-10 defeat they got from Yuma in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
