Recap: Grand County Red Devils vs. Duchesne Eagles

The Grand County Red Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Duchesne. Grand County has struggled against Duchesne recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Grand County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cadence Kasprick, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Kasprick hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Ainsleigh Kasprick was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

Duchesne found their leader in underclassman Kira Grant, who scored 19 points along with eight assists. It was the first time this season that Grant posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Lily Moon, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Grand County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Duchesne, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand County and San Juan will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. San Juan is coming into the matchup with nine straight defeats on the road, meaning Grand County will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Duchesne, they will be playing at home against Gunnison Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Duchesne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Saturday.
