Troup County has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Sandy Creek has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Tigers will welcome the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Troup County challenged Spalding on Thursday. The Tigers breezed past the Jaguars to the tune of 48-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Tigers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Jaguars are ranked 228th).

Troup County can attribute much of their success to Javarris Warner, who rushed for 186 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and Garrison Edwards, who rushed for 81 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Warner's longest rush was for an incredible 79 yards. Another player making a difference was Blaize Bell, who picked up 59 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Troup County didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Spalding to a completion percentage of just 21.1%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from two players: Jamari Brown and Davis Moncus, who each logged one passes deflected. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Troup County; they were averaging 61.9%completion percentage earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 61.9%.

Troup County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Noah Davis and KJ McQueen. McQueen is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Spalding's side was Skylen Straughn, who picked up two sacks, forced two fumbles, and made eight total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Sandy Creek got themselves on the board against Mary Persons on Friday, but Mary Persons never followed suit. They really took it to the Bulldogs for the full four quarters, racking up a 44-0 win. The Patriots pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had no chance of recovering from.

Troup County better keep an eye on Amari Latimer. He was instrumental in Sandy Creek's win, rushing for 196 yards and two scores while picking up 12.3 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Hill, who threw for 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Troup County's victory bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Sandy Creek, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-0.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Troup County has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 271.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sandy Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 235.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Troup County couldn't quite get it done against Sandy Creek in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 as they fell 55-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hill, who threw for 303 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 127 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. Now that the Tigers know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
