Basketball Recap: Garner Comes Up Short

Garner extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-4. They had to suffer through a 55-9 loss at the hands of the Willow Spring Storm. The matchup marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Samaria Boone was Garner's leading scorer, having posted five points.

As for Willow Spring, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Willow Spring was led to victory by Ahnala Temple and Taylor Gray. Temple dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten steals, while Gray posted 16 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The contest was Gray's third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Temple, who scored five points and three steals.

Looking ahead, Garner is taking a road trip to square off against Middle Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans will be up against the Mustangs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Willow Spring, they will venture away from home to take on Cary at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
