Football Recap: Memorial Falls Short of Katy in the Playoffs + How To Watch

Memorial and Katy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Memorial had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 48-7. The Mustangs were red-hot offensively heading into the matchup (they scored no less than 31 points in the eight contests prior), but the Tigers' defense proved too tough.

Even if they lost, Memorial's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Isaac Richardson, Roman Gambino, and Daniel Bidros, who each picked up one sack apiece.

It was another big night for Tremayne Hill, who rushed for 169 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry for Katy. Hill has been hot for a while, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last 11 times he's played. Tony Manuel was in the mix as well, providing Katy with two touchdowns.

The loss snapped Memorial's winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 10-2 record. As for Katy, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Katy, they will face off against Summer Creek at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,026 yards in their previous games.
