Basketball Game Preview: Mercer Mustangs vs. Kennedy Catholic

The Mercer Mustangs will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Kennedy Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Mercer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Last Monday, everything came up roses for Mercer against Cochranton as the squad secured a 70-41 win. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Cardinals are ranked 334th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 87-54, which was the final score in Kennedy Catholic's tilt against Mathews on Monday.

Mercer pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Kennedy Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Mercer against Kennedy Catholic when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 69-35 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mercer since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
