Cranberry Area extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-10 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Brookville Raiders. The Berries were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Alex McIntyre was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one stolen base. Landon Burgdorfer was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
As for Brookville, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-13. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games.
On Brookville's side, their victory was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Owen Fleming, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Fleming is becoming a predictor of the Raiders' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't). Looking ahead, Cranberry Area will head out to challenge Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Brookville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
