Basketball Game Preview: Ridgway Demons vs. Telluride Miners

Ridgway is 8-2 against Telluride since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Ridgway Demons will head out on the road to face off against the Telluride Miners at 5:00 p.m. Ridgway will be strutting in after a win while Telluride will be coming in after a loss.

Ridgway is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest victory since January 21st on Tuesday. They blew past Ouray 38-18. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-5.

Sophia Scranton had a dynamite game for Ridgway, going 7-for-11 to rack up 15 points and seven steals. Thanks to that strong game, Scranton now owns an excellent 46% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Emery Cornell, who posted four points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Telluride played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Bayfield, falling 36-13. The Miners were down 34-8 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Ridgway is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.1 points over those games. Telluride has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Ridgway took their win against Telluride in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 51-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridgway since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
