Kyle Casey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Evan Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rowan Schmidt, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Simi Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Camarillo struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Oak Park came up short against Moorpark on Friday and fell 8-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Tyler Kutsch was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Kutsch is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Luke Sater was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Simi Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Oak Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1.
Simi Valley took their victory against Oak Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1. Will Simi Valley repeat their success, or does Oak Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
