Baseball Recap: Glenwood City Victorious

While Glenwood City's victory against Elmwood/Plum City wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hilltoppers never let the Wolves get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hilltoppers in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Blake Fayerweather, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Elmwood/Plum City off the board. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Fayerweather.

At the plate, Sam Cassellius was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Glenwood City's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Elmwood/Plum City, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenwood City will welcome Durand-Arkansaw at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Elmwood/Plum City, they will be playing at home against Elk Mound at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
