Football Game Preview: Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers vs. Providence Day Chargers

Charlotte Country Day School hasn't had much luck against Providence Day recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Buccaneers will square off against the Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Charlotte Country Day School is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since August 16, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Charlotte Latin 24-21.

A big part of Charlotte Country Day School's victory came down to the chemistry between Achilles Morales and his top target Braylon Clark. Morales threw for 278 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per attempt while Clark picked up 167 receiving yards and one touchdown. Clark really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 80 yards.

Meanwhile, Providence Day put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Charlotte Christian with a sharp 46-20 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Chargers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Knights are ranked 38th).

Providence Day's win came from a few key players Charlotte Country Day School will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zaid Lott, who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. Aidan Gallos helped Lott out on the ground, rushing for 111 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 carries.

Charlotte Country Day School's record now sits at 6-2. As for Providence Day, their record is now 9-0.

Charlotte Country Day School took a serious blow against Providence Day in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 54-7. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Buccaneers were down 47-0.
