Basketball Recap: Coachella Valley Extends Winning Streak to Four

Coachella Valley extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Mark Gonzalez. The Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs came out on top against the Yucca Valley Trojans by a score of 85-78 on Thursday thanks in part to Gonzalez, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in boards.

The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Garcia, who went 6 for 14 en route to 20 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Coachella Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-14 Yucca Valley and 2-19 Yucca Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 17.8% over those games). As for Yucca Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-19.

Coachella Valley will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Indio at 5:30 p.m. As for Yucca Valley, they will head out to take on Twentynine Palms at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
