Softball Recap: Danville Comes Up Short

Danville extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 4-10. They lost 12-4 to the Selinsgrove Seals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-8 on April 7th.

Ryleigh Hepner made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Jillian Lowe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

As for Selinsgrove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Seals, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Selinsgrove's side, Charlee Bigger looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Bigger has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sadi Bigger was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Bressler, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Danville will challenge Central Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Ironmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Selinsgrove, they will host Williamsport at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Millionaires have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
