Hastings' victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Gering, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Gering took a serious blow against Hastings in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 41-14. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bulldogs were down 34-7.
