Softball Recap: South San Francisco Sets Scoring Season-High Against Castilleja

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South San Francisco). They blew past the Castilleja Gators 21-4 on Friday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kadence Yip was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Yip was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Bergesen, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Madyson Jade Quintanilla was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

South San Francisco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Castilleja only posted a batting average of .333.

South San Francisco pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Castilleja, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

South San Francisco wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-10 victory against Mercy on the 14th. As for Castilleja, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-2 defeat against Notre Dame on the 15th.
