Durham Academy had won three straight home games and Alice Chen did her part to make it four on Wednesday. The Cavaliers had just enough and edged out the East Chapel Hill Wildcats 3-2 with plenty of help from Chen, who had 19 digs and two assists. She has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Durham Academy took East Chapel Hill into a fifth set where they got it done with a ten-point win. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-18, 25-14, 23-25, 15-5.

Durham Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for East Chapel Hill, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-6 record.

Durham Academy and East Chapel Hill should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Cavaliers will take on St. Mary's at 5:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (64 vs. 290). Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill (ranked 103rd) will meet Hillside (ranked 572nd) at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday.
