Softball Game Preview: Perry Pirates vs. Edgewood Warriors

Perry is 8-2 against Edgewood since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pirates will head out to take on the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Perry comes in on five and Edgewood on eight.

Perry gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Solon.

Morgan Winters made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Winters was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Sophie Sivon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Perry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

West Geauga typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Edgewood proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 10-5.

Perry pushed their record up to 13-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, their record is now 9-1.

Everything went Perry's way against Edgewood in their previous meeting on April 14th, as Perry made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
